A Crofton, KY man, who wishes to remain anonymous, won $90,000 playing the Kentucky Lottery’s Gold Mine 9X Scratch-off.
The man stopped at the Huck’s in Crofton where he purchased the $5 ticket.
“Something told me to hit the machine,” the Christian County man said.
He doesn't always purchase from the lottery vending machines but had a feeling he should. “It all depends on what's calling you.”
His feeling was right. As he scratched off the ticket, he revealed a $15,000 prize next to two gold bar symbols, multiplying his prize by 6 and winning the game's $90,000 top prize.
“I looked around and walked out,” he said. After leaving the store, the man told lottery officials he then took a deep breath and called his buddy.
“It still hasn't sunk in,” he said.
The man and his friend travelled to lottery headquarters in Louisville Thursday to claim his prize.
After taxes, the Crofton man walked away with a check for $64,800. He plans to use some of the winnings to help his friend start a business.
Huck’s will receive $900 for selling the winning ticket.
