Jessie Wagoner, 52, of Richmond, went to three different retailers this past Sunday before hitting it big at the last stop. At each of the stores; she’d won on a scratch-off and would go to a different store in the area to cash it in. Instead of getting cash for the winning tickets she would redeem them for other scratch-offs.
It was the stop at Richmond Convenience Food on Commercial Drive that paid off in a big way. With $50 that she’d won at the second stop, Wagoner bought a $10 $75,000 Jumbo Bucks ticket.
While sitting in her truck in the store’s parking lot, Wagoner scratched off the ticket revealing the star symbol on the first row, making it an automatic win. When scratching off the prize amount, she revealed $75,000.
“My body starting shaking and I began crying,” Wagoner told lottery officials. The clerk had to hold her hand to help her sign the back of the ticket. “It was real hectic,” she said.
Wagoner plans to help out family with the winnings. She first wants to surprise her daughter with a car, who currently relies on her and her husband for transportation. “I can’t wait to see my daughter’s face,” Wagoner said.
