Clark County Man Takes Extended Lunch to Pick Up 100 Grand from Lottery Headquarters

June 11, 2010

Joseph Woosley, 31, of Winchester, enters Internet contests on a regular basis.  When the Kentucky Lottery began its Ultimate Second Chance drawings over a year ago, he said it was a natural progression for him to enter his non-winning scratch-off tickets.

On the morning of June 10, the Kentucky Lottery conducted its Ultimate Second Chance drawing for Winter Winnings when Joseph's entry was selected as the winner.
"My fiance Susan called me at work to tell me that the Kentucky Lottery had left a message for me to call them.  I knew then I had won something but just didn't know what.  It was a nice surprise to find out I'd won $100,000," Joseph told lottery officials.

Joseph was at work at Hewlett Packard when he told one person he worked with what had happened and that he was going to take a long lunch.  Next, he headed to lottery headquarters where he walked out with a check for $69,000 after taxes.

The Clark county resident plans to pay off bills.  He and Susan just moved last week so they also plan to buy furniture and windows for their new house.

The Kentucky Lottery received 92,532 entries for this drawing.  Players could either mail-in or enter their non-winning $10 Winter Winnings scratch-off tickets via the internet for a chance to win.

The next Ultimate Second Chance drawing is scheduled to take place on July 6.  Players can enter their non-winning $10 Cash Extravaganza scratch-off tickets for a chance to win the game's top prize of $120,000.
