Promotions and Your ISYS Terminal
Now more than ever the Kentucky Lottery uses your ISYS terminal to promote Online and Scratch off games. Whether it’s a coupon the player has received in the mail or an offer that requires your clerk to press the promo key, players are always looking to get more for less!
Making sure that your clerks know which key to use for the different types of promotions will keep your players happy and coming back to your store time and again.
Here’s a rundown of the types of promotions and what your clerks need to know;
Coupons
Coupons are distributed through the mail, special events and the internet and can be for a
variety of offers including scratch off tickets.
Clerks will need to press the coupon key to activate the terminal
reader.
All coupons need to be scanned or manually enter through the terminal.
Remember these coupons can look ‘homemade’ depending on the type of printer used. Let the terminal be the judge, scanning/entering the coupon will let you know if it is legitimate when the authorization slip prints.
Promo Key
The promo key is used when the Kentucky Lottery
offers a discount on specific products or wants to reward a player for buying a certain product by
giving them a terminal printed (on ticket stock) coupon. These types of promotions aren’t as
frequent, but happen just like the ‘Get your game on’ Bluegrass Bundle promotion that ran in
January.
Bluegrass Bundle type promotions will require your clerk to press the ‘Promo Key’ and select 1, N-Pack to product promotion. The offer will then automatically print!
Terminal printed (on ticket stock) coupons will require your clerk to press the ‘Promo Key’ and select 2, Coupon Redemption. The coupon screen will then appear and the coupon will need to be scanned or entered for the offer to print and for you to receive your credit.
Make sure that your clerks know how to create and redeem promotions ran by the lottery! The happier your customers are the more times they will return to your store for lottery and other purchases!

Managing Your Inventory
Today more than ever it is important to manage your inventory and ensure that you are not paying for packs of tickets before you activate them. Here are some simple suggestions to help you manage your inventory!
· Practice FIFO (First in, First out)
· Date packs with a magic marker, a pen or inventory control sticker using the invoice date before placing in your safe or other secure location.
· Rotate Stock using the oldest dated packs first to help you sell the pack before you are billed for it.
· Remember packs will be billed even if they are not activated, 50 days from invoice date or 30 days from activation, whichever comes first. (Unless bill immediate)
· Activate packs before you have had them for too long (about 3 weeks). If you find it is taking longer to activate packs you may want to consider reducing your inventory.
· Periodically check the ‘Unbilled Packs Report’ available through your ISYS terminal to ensure you have the packs listed on the report and have not received any you are not aware of.
Your external sales reps have tools that help them know if you have tickets that have not been activated in 30 days or if any of your tickets need to be returned. But ultimately you control your inventory and good practices on your end will allow you to move product and keep your investment to a minimum!
