JOB SUMMARY

 

The Network Services Manager manages the development, configuration, and support resources associated with the LAN/WAN computing network, server environment and desktop systems. Provides technical expertise and guidance in the areas of computer, server, and network capabilities as they are used to support the KLC’s service needs, goals, and objectives. Responsible for the overall success of assigned Network Services projects. Responsible for managing the KLC’s internal service desk support and maintaining the stability of the KLC’s network environment. Works with other units to provide reporting, system compliance, project planning and business continuity plans. Works with auditors to adhere and maintain policies, procedures, and standards for the KLC computing environment. Researches, evaluates, and pilots new technologies and tools in conjunction with the overall network and technology strategy of the corporation.  Assists KLC department managers and IT staff by providing specific technical and business expertise necessary to resolve business issues and support corporate and departmental initiatives.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Manages the overall KLC computing environment, scheduling and coordination of on-going maintenance, software and hardware upgrades, security, and system changes. 
  • Responsible for the management of the Network Services technical team in carrying out their respective duties. 
  • Allocates necessary resources to carry out the execution of technology-based projects.
  • Participates in all internal or external technology related audits and reviews.
  • Responsible for managing all aspects of the KLC’s internal service desk and its service delivery to the organization.
  • Participates in the development of the IT budget and annual business plan that supports corporate and departmental strategic goals.
  • Participates on project teams to provide tactical and strategic input on the planning and design of system enhancements and provide technical and business expertise as needed.
  • Manages and develops operational procedures for network systems, to ensure a well-managed and operational network environment.
  • Works with other responsible business units in establishing the future direction of network architectures and systems which supports the organizations strategic plan, including project methodologies and technical implementation.
  • Analyzes overall network performance, compliance, and security reporting to ensure uptime of the KLC computing network.
  • Responsible for reviewing network component configurations and implementing best practice solutions for system design and maintenance.
  • Responsible for software licensing, IT assets, supply inventory, and maintenance renewal contracts.
  • Administration - time sheets, monthly calendars, reviews and evaluations, monthly reports, attending departmental and organizational meetings, creating equipment purchase requisitions, creating on call schedules, and the surplus of equipment. 
  • Responsible for the regular review, maintenance, exercising, and upkeep of the Network Services Business Continuity plan.

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology preferred.  Five to seven years of related experience within Network Computing required.  
  • Minimum of 3-5 years leading and managing Information Technology teams.
  • Minimum five years’ experience:
    • Network infrastructure.
    • Supporting Windows Active Directory environment.
    • LAN/Network administration.
    • Administration of enterprise firewalls.
  • Two years’ experience administration of VMware.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience with Microsoft 365, Microsoft SQL, and Linux.
  • Requires the ability to display comprehensive knowledge of networking infrastructure and industry standards.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both written and orally with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong and effective leadership skills.
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
  • Must have the ability to think conceptually and systematically to organize and prioritize implementations.
  • Strong decision-making abilities.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position supervises the following roles:

  • Sr. Network Administrator
  • Sr. Server Administrator
  • Server Administrator
  • Network Support Technician

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Office environment
  • Travel – minimal
  • At times may require unpredicted demands/ System Support
  • After hour on call support
