JOB SUMMARY

 

The Senior Auditor acts as lead auditor on audit assignments, including supervision of staff as assigned; develops audit specific planning documents and audit program; performs assigned work on various audit projects; holds all necessary meetings during audit engagements and prepares audit reports.  Provides input on departmental budget and the audit plan each year.  Ensures compliance with IIA standards for the performance of audit work on each audit engagement. Serves as liaison to draw auditors, scheduling auditor coverage as necessary and appropriate. Continually evaluates audit process for improvement opportunities.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Performs all audit engagements assigned by the Audit Manager, supervising any KLC audit staff as assigned.  Communicates potential recommendations to auditees during the audits and at exit conferences.  Provides input as requested on audits assigned to other KLC audit personnel. Conducts all applicable meetings with auditee(s); prepare audit reports; and performs follow-up reviews of corrective action items.
  • Assists in the preparation of the annual audit plan (to be reviewed by department and KLC management and approved by the Audit Committee and the Board of Directors) using a risk assessment methodology and building in requested items from management and the Audit Committee. Makes recommendations for changes to the risk model to preserve its currency and effectiveness. Provides input on the coordination with the KLC’s Enterprise Risk Management program.
  • Assists in the administration of contracts with external draw auditors and with certifying company for RNG and ball calibrations. Ensures draw auditors are available and assigned for all applicable functions.  Periodically assesses needs for updating or process changes.
  • Provides support and consultative services to KLC departments as necessary and appropriate. Performs IA operational activities as assigned (including, but not limited to) ball weights requests, unannounced visits to draw studio, promotional rules and regulations development, etc. Prepares and issues reports on operational activities as applicable or as assigned.
  • Performs analyses or other support services as requested by management.

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Accounting or other business program is required.
  • Professional certification, CIA or similar, is required (at KLC’s discretion, may waive certification requirement but require certification within two years of placement in position).
  • Minimum of three years of professional experience in internal audit or public accounting is required. Professional certification may be substituted for one year of professional experience.
  • One year of experience in supervising other accounting or audit professionals on audit engagements is preferred.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills – demonstrate ability to analyze, interpret, and evaluate data or evidence to reach accurate conclusions, is required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills are required.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

                                                                                           

This position has no supervisor responsibilities.
