Breeders' Cup and KY Lottery Team Up to Re-Launch One of the Most Successful Scratch-Off Tickets in KY History!
July 1, 2010
In 2006, a Breeders’ Cup branded Lottery ticket went on to sell nearly a million tickets in just three weeks. The ticket is now being re-issued for the 2010 Breeders’ Cup ®.
The $5 ticket offers a top prize of $30,000, and will be made available in limited quantities starting July 1 st. The tickets feature nine different images of past Breeders’ Cup winners, including two tickets of the undefeated and reigning Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Zenyatta.
“Our players overwhelmingly responded to this ticket four years ago, and we anticipate the same great response again,” said KLC Sr. Vice President of Sales and Marketing Steve Casebeer. “The combination of a unique playstyle, the nine different versions of the ticket with artwork that marks past Breeders’ Cup ® Champions and an incredible second-chance promotion should make the ticket very popular.”
“We are excited to partner again with the Kentucky Lottery to bring Breeders’ Cup excitement to the widest possible audience in Kentucky in months leading up to this year’s Championships at Churchill Downs,” said Breeders’ Cup President and CEO Greg Avioli.
This second-chance promotion will allow players to enter non-winning tickets for a chance to win one of ten exclusive VIP grand-prize packages which include:
- Accommodations at a Louisville hotel for three nights;
- Transportation to and from the track;
- Tickets to both days of the Breeders’ Cup ® in a special reserved suite;
- Access to an expert handicapper;
- A $500 betting voucher;
- $500 in spending money, and ;
- A Breeders’ Cup ® /Kentucky Lottery merchandise package.
"The rapid sellout in 2006 demonstrated the strong appeal of this game to both lottery players and horse racing fans," said Kenneth Kirchner, president of FalKirk, Inc, who negotiated the agreement on behalf of Breeders’ Cup Ltd. "The Kentucky Lottery staff has done a tremendous job with the game and we're very pleased to be teaming up with them again for such a great product and promotion."
Players can enter the second-chance promotion through the Kentucky Lottery website ( www.kylottery.com ). All entries must be received by September 24 th to be eligible for the grand prize drawing.
“Collectors usually snap up a number of these tickets, as there are nine different ones which each feature a winning horse from a past Breeders’ Cup ® race at Churchill Downs,” said Casebeer. Each ticket has two different horse-racing themed games, in addition to a daily-double bonus box which allows players to double the entire prize amount won on the ticket.
