OTHER THINGS TO KNOW

Always check your purchases.
Make sure the ticket reflects the numbers you want for the drawing you requested.

Always sign your name to the back of the ticket before giving it to the clerk for cashing.
This will help protect your claim in the event you win.

Know what you have won before giving your ticket to a Retailer. Ask for a validation receipt.
Before giving your ticket to the retailer, scan and check your tickets with the official Kentucky Lottery app, or at free-standing ticket checkers, or on vending machines.  To check Scratch-offs, scan the barcode on the front of the ticket.

Once you hand over your ticket, look for the video monitor in the store. When your ticket is scanned, look in the bottom right corner of the monitor and it will tell you if you’ve won a prize and how much.

If you doubt the retailer, ask to see the validation receipt.  If your ticket is a non-winner, you can keep the receipt. If the ticket is a winner, the clerk must keep the original receipt. However, you can ask for a reprint of the receipt.

If a problem persists, ask for your ticket back and contact the Kentucky Lottery Division of Security at 1-800-937-8946 - option 5.

Never allow a retailer to charge you a fee, commission, or tax for cashing your ticket(s).
If this occurs, contact the Kentucky Lottery Division of Security immediately at 1-800-937-8946 - option 5

If you play a multi-draw ticket and win before the final draw, obtain an exchange ticket from the retailer when you cash your ticket.
Make sure the ticket you receive is accurate. DO THIS IMMEDIATELY UPON RECEIPT. The ticket should have the word EXCHANGE at the top.

If you purchase a Scratch-off ticket, check it and make sure the play area coating has not been previously scratched.
If the ticket appears to have been tampered with, contact the Kentucky Lottery Division of Security immediately.
