A Brandenburg woman showed up to Kentucky Lottery Headquarters recently to collect her check after she won $50,000 on a Scratch-off ticket.

The woman, who chose to remain anonymous, said she went to Kroger on Bypass Road in Brandenburg to get a few tickets and decided to buy the $2,000,000 Diamond Dazzler ticket simply because she likes it.

“I’ve always liked the Dazzler,” she said.  “I told myself, ‘I’m going to win the $2 million.’ Then I heard someone won it!”

The woman scratched the ticket off while she was still in Kroger and scanned the barcode to see if it was a winner.  Once she saw the message telling her to ‘See KLC’, she knew she had won something big. “I thought, ‘I know that has to be good,’” she said.

In the play area on her ticket, was an automatic symbol with the $50,000 prize located below.

The clerk working the Guest Services desk told the woman to immediately sign her ticket and had someone escort her out of the store.

The woman said she only told her daughter and best friend about the win. “I called my daughter and told her to guess how much”.

When the woman arrived at Kentucky Lottery headquarters, she was still in disbelief.  She joked that she checked her ticket one more time when she arrived.

The Meade County woman took home a check for $36,000 after taxes.

As for her plans, the extra money will help towards a vacation she already had planned.

Kroger will receive $500 for selling the winning ticket.
