Charles Stallard of Valley Station took home more than just groceries when he decided to buy a Kentucky Lottery Scratch-off ticket.

Stallard stopped at Price Less Foods on Dixie Highway in Louisville earlier this month to do his grocery shopping when he purchased a $5 50X The Cash ticket, winning the game’s $150,000 top prize.

As Stallard scratched his ticket off in his truck, he revealed a 50X symbol indicating the prize below is multiplied.

“When it came up fifty times, I figured it was going to be $5,” he said.  “When I scratched off $3,000, I actually started crying.  I couldn’t believe it!”

Since Stallard scratched the winning ticket off late on a Friday afternoon he had to anxiously wait until the following Monday to claim his prize. He walked away with a check for $108,000 after taxes.

“I didn’t get much sleep all weekend,” Stallard said.  “For the first time in my life, I’m not in debt.  I get to pay my house off.”

He also shared with lottery officials that his boat has been broken down for a year and was excited to be able to now take it to the shop to get fixed.

“Once I get everything paid, I’m fishing the rest of the year.”

Price Less Foods will receive $1,500 for selling the winning ticket
