A Louisville, Ky. man went “full panic mode” after discovering he won $250,000 on the Kentucky Lottery’s $10 Wild Cash 100X Scratch-off.

The man, who wished to share his story anonymously, finished up his workday and stopped at Circle K on 5035 Mud Lane in Louisville to purchase his weekly Lottery games.

He scanned the ticket in the store and was pretty sure he had won the game’s top prize.  He had matched the number 33 on the top row to win $250,000.

“I was like full panic mode,” he joked.

He wanted a second opinion, so he went immediately home and told his wife.

“I said this is a really big ticket. I said I don't know how much it is, but I think it might be the top prize,” he explained.

Once his wife confirmed it was the game’s top prize, she said they started jumping up and down.

Joy eventually turned into the “jitters” for the couple as their minds started racing about what to do next.

“I didn’t want to have to hold on to this all weekend,” the husband said. “I was like don't tell the kids. Nobody needs to know. Let’s get out of here. We’re running downtown.”

The couple claimed their winning ticket at the Kentucky Lottery Headquarters in downtown Louisville, walking away with $180,000 after taxes.

“This money will just take a lot of pressure off of us,” the husband said. “We are going to put it toward our finances.”

The Kentucky Lottery launched its Wild Cash family of games June 26th offering players price points ranging from $2 to $30. There is one $250,000 top prize remaining on the $10 ticket; two $1,000 prizes remaining and more than 1,400 $500 prizes remaining.

Circle K will receive $2,500 for selling the winning ticket.
