A Clarksville, Tenn. woman’s routine Saturday morning turned into an unforgettable day when she scratched her way to a $30,000 Kentucky Lottery win while cheering for her granddaughter at a soccer game.
The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, recently returned from vacation and decided to try her luck with a couple of Scratch-off tickets from lottery vending machine at the Walmart in Oak Grove, Ky.
"I was just killing time before my granddaughter's soccer game," she recalls. "I picked up a $2 ticket and a $3 ticket, not expecting much."
As she sat watching the game, multitasking between cheering and scratching off the $2 Trick or Treat ticket, she couldn't believe her eyes. "I kept seeing $3,000 over and over again. I thought, 'This can't be right!'" she exclaimed. After double-checking with a close friend who plays the lottery all the time, the reality of her win began to sink in.
The woman uncovered ten $3,000 prizes along with the skull symbol indicating she won all ten prizes.
“It probably won’t hit me until I get the check,” she said. After taxes, she received a check for $21,600.
The woman told lottery officials she transplanted to Fort Campbell to help take care of her granddaughter while her son is deployed, plans to use her winnings to fund several exciting trips.
"This win couldn't have come at a better time."
In addition to her travel plans, she also intends to give back to her community. "I'm going to donate some of the money to my church back home,” she shared. "It's a blessing, and I want to pay it forward."
The Kentucky Lottery’s $2 Trick or Treat Scratch-off game was released to players in September 2025. This is the first $30,000 top prize win on the $2 Trick or Treat game. There are three $30,000 top prizes remaining and 23 $500 second-tier prizes remaining.
Walmart will receive $300 for selling the winning ticket.
