Shipping & Receiving Clerk - 1926
JOB SUMMARY
The Shipping & Receiving Clerk verifies and maintains accurate records of all incoming and outgoing shipments for the Kentucky Lottery Corporation (KLC). Coordinates and oversees the timely distribution of all point-of-sale game (POS) materials, instant ticket dispensers, and play centers, as they relate to new game releases and retailer needs. Works with the Purchasing Department in the proper storage and disposal of all company surplus items ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. Responsible for the safe operation of forklifts, lift trucks, and material handling equipment, ensuring compliance with all applicable OSHA rules & regulations. Delivers goods to KLC user departments. Assists KLC staff members with record retention storage requests. Serves as a backup to the Operations Support Clerk.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Verifies and maintains records of all incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares for shipments upon request. Compiles accurate records of all shipping and receiving transactions.
- Examines and reconciles incoming shipments, rejects damaged goods, reports shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
- Delivers goods to internal KLC user departments, or stores goods in warehouse when applicable. Items may include play centers, instant ticket dispensers, paper products, rolls of paper/plastic, etc.
- Delivers POS materials, or other required delivery inserts to the KLC’s instant ticket vendor at their local offsite warehouse and distribution facility.
- Develops and maintains adequate inventory control for all items kept in inventory by the KLC. Coordinates the timely resolution of any shipping and inventory issues.
- Ensures that all POS materials are shipped timely to Field Sales staff and/or directly to retail locations.
- Works with Purchasing Department to properly store or dispose of all company surplus items while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as proper maintenance of related records.
- Continually evaluates warehouse capacity to identify optimal storage strategies maximizing the use of available space. Maintains clean and efficient work area.
- Safely operates forklift, lift trucks, and other material handling equipment to move inventory, surplus, or other items, as required in the KLC’s day-to-day operations.
- Maintains comprehensive knowledge of applicable OSHA rules and regulations including, but not limited to, the safe operation of lift trucks, forklifts, and materials handling equipment. Ensures the KLC warehouse consistently adheres to these compliance requirements.
- Serves as backup to the Operations Support Clerk, performing or assisting in those duties when necessary.
- Assists with warehouse storage of company documents required for records retention.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Incumbent must possess the following combination of knowledge and experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in inventory control, records retention, and shipping and receiving utilizing electronic software.
- Valid forklift operator’s license.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations.
- Proven experience providing exceptional customer service through effective communication, problem solving, and conflict resolution.
- Proficient understanding of basic math functions (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
- Basic computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office products – especially Word and Excel.
- Must have strong verbal communication skills, demonstrating tact, clarity, and effectiveness both in person and on the phone.
- Must display critical thinking skills.
- Must have strong planning and organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
- Must be dependable with excellent time-management skills and consistent attendance.

Salary Range: $32,410-$40,460 (Midpoint). Our goal is to pay a competitive market salary for new employees, which is typically up to the midpoint of our pay ranges. However, final offers for all positions will be based on several factors such as experience level, education, skills and internal pay equity
