A Louisville pup with a taste for fine leather and expensive shoes had been on his owner’s bad side for weeks. The “weird” dog, who rarely barks but prefers to communicate through silent stares, recently chewed though several pairs of his owner’s high-end shoes. But that destructive energy turned into something positive on one recent early morning.
“He wakes me up because he has to go to the bathroom,” said the man, who spoke to the Lottery anonymously. “He will just give me a little blank stare like, ‘I need to go so get up and let me outside.’”
Unable to fall back asleep after the dog’s trip outside, the man turned “Stranger Things” on Netflix and started playing Coins of the Titans on the Kentucky Lottery mobile app.
“Then boom, I wager a dollar and I go into the bonus round and then I hit the stars and the jackpot,” the man said. “It’s like get out of here. I’m jumping and shaking.”
The man wasn’t sure how much he had actually won until he got an email from the Kentucky Lottery confirming the amount – $408,081.71.
The man said he plans to use the money – $293,440.19 after taxes – to pay for his kids’ education, help his mom and put the money toward a house for his family.
What about the dog?
“Yeah, I’m going to keep the dog, but I think I’m going to have to change his name to ‘Lucky,’” the man joked.
Coins of the Titans is a Kentucky Lottery progressive jackpot game that starts at $90,000 and increases with each purchase of a participating Progressive Jackpot Instant Play game. Along with jewels and coins, the game features Medusa, Pegasus, and gladiator symbols.
