For Shenea Wallin of Nancy, Ky., a quick errand became a life-changing moment thanks to purchasing a Kentucky Lottery $50 Instant Millionaire Scratch-off.
After a regular day at work, Shenea stopped at Midland Farms located at 1830 KY-80 in Somerset and suddenly found herself with a $50,000 win.
A Pike County man just passed “Go” and collected $100,000 in real life, thanks to the Kentucky Lottery’s Monopoly 50X Scratch-off game.
After purchasing his ticket at the Justiceville Double Kwik, the winner who prefers to remain anonymous scanned his ticket and received instructions reminiscent of a classic Monopoly move: report directly to Kentucky Lottery Headquarters and collect $100,000.
“I thought it was a cool game. I scratched it off in the parking lot and didn’t think it was real,” he said. “The store had the machine where you can scan your tickets and once I scanned it, it said, ‘Report to Kentucky Lottery Headquarters.’”
The man won the game’s $100,000 top prize with the Monopoly game “iron” symbol.
He shared his win with this family who didn’t believe him at first.
“I thought he was lying,” his brother said. “My stomach just dropped. We are excited for him.”
His brother and sister‑in‑law drove to lottery headquarters with him to collect his prize, $72,500 after taxes.
The winner said he plans to save most of his winnings after paying off some bills.
Justiceville Double Kwik will receive $1,000 for selling the winning ticket.
