100% of Kentucky Lottery profits benefit education through grant and scholarship programs. In FY 2026, $419 million was provided to the state for lawmakers to fund scholarships and grants for Kentucky students and their families. We also give back to our communities through prizes to players, and payments to our retailers. Whether it’s a prize big or small, a lift to local businesses or support for education, every ticket makes a difference for our state’s future.

Benefitting Kentucky Students

The Kentucky Lottery is a major driver of educational opportunity across the Commonwealth, with proceeds dedicated to funding a wide range of scholarships and grants for Kentucky students.

Since inception in 1989, the Lottery has generated more than $8 billion in total earnings for Kentucky, supporting programs like KEES, need‑based aid, and dual‑credit initiatives that help high‑school students get a head start. More than one million Kentuckians have already benefited from these funds, making college more accessible and helping build a stronger, better‑educated workforce for Kentucky.

Benefitting Players

The Kentucky Lottery creates winners every day! In 2026, players won more than $1.7 billion in prizes playing scratch-off, draw, and instant play games.

From life-changing jackpots to frequent mid-tier wins, Kentuckians benefit directly as the largest share of lottery revenue returns to players in the form of prizes.

Supporting Kentucky Businesses

The Kentucky Lottery strengthens local economies by partnering with more than 3,500 retailers across the Commonwealth. Retailers earn millions each year in commissions and incentives, helping them reinvest in their businesses and support their employees. Lottery players also help drive retail foot traffic who often make additional in-store purchases. The Lottery equips retailers with state-of-the-art technology and hands-on support from a dedicated statewide sales team, ensuring each location can succeed and grow.

Benefitting Communities

The Kentucky Lottery gives back to our communities not only through funding of scholarships and grants, but also through the charitable activities of our employees. We have an internal program, “KLCares” that consists of drives, donations, and volunteer work for local organizations including disaster relief, addiction recovery, animal shelters, schools, United Way, Fund for the Arts, and more.

Kentucky Lottery employees receive company-provided, paid volunteer hours each year to volunteer at an organization of their choice. Supporting our communities is centrical to our social responsibility program!
