A Louisville woman, who wished to remain anonymous, was pleasantly surprised when a $2 Kentucky Lottery Scratch-off ticket turned into a $25,000 win.

The woman stopped at the Circle K on Shepherdsville Road in Louisville last month where she purchased one of the Kentucky Lottery’s newest tickets, Wild Cash 20X and scratched it off in the store.

She shared with lottery officials that she loves to play Scratch-offs and purchases the new tickets when they come out.

“I saw the ‘Wild’ symbol and thought it was $2,500.” She went on to discover the ‘Wild’ symbol indicating she won all prizes shown on the ticket, totaling the $25,000 top prize.

“I guess I expected it, but I was confused at first,” she said. “That’s not bad for $2.”

She told officials she was calm and walked out of the store. “I don’t like to make myself known and didn’t want people to know how much I’d won.”

The next day she claimed her ticket at lottery headquarters and received a check for $18,000, after taxes.

“I’ve never had that kind of money in my life,” she said. “I’m very grateful.” She told officials she currently lives in an apartment and plans to save her winnings and eventually look for a convenient place to live making it easier to let her dogs in and out.

The Kentucky Lottery launched its Wild Cash family of games June 26th offering players price points ranging from $2 to $30. This is the first $25,000 top prize win on the $2 Wild Cash 20X game. There are three $25,000 top prizes remaining and 50 $1,000 second-tier prizes remaining.

Circle K will receive $250 for selling the winning ticket.
