An Indiana man is celebrating after winning $100,000, thanks to a Kentucky Lottery Scratch-off win.

The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, won the prize on a $30 Break Fort Knox ticket.

The winning ticket was sold at Smoker Friendly Discount Tobacco in Milton, KY earlier this month.

He and his wife were traveling through the area after visiting family when the couple stopped for a quick snack at the store and decided to purchase a Scratch-off.

The man said he’s not a frequent lottery player and rarely plays.

“We had a little extra cash and thought why not? It was the luck of the draw, I guess,” he said.
When scratching the ticket off, he matched the number 14 on the first spot, where located below was the game’s $100,000 prize.

The man said the nearly weeklong wait to claim the prize felt much longer.

“We got it [winning ticket] and took it home then just put it in the cabinet,” he said. “I was itching to turn it in.”
He said he works as a teacher and a sports coach at his school. He told lottery officials the prize will help with several expenses, largely going into savings and investments for his family.

The Indiana man made the drive to lottery headquarters March 19th, where he received a check for $72,000.
“I want to give back,” he said. “As a teacher, I feel like I don’t deserve this. I want to give back to my team, I want to surprise my friends.”

“We might keep $2,000,” he said. “It will allow us to get that extra drink or go to a fancy restaurant, go to this museum. It’ll be good. We can take a deep breath and kind of relax a little bit.”

Smoker Friendly Discount Tobacco will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
