'I was almost hyperventilating', Louisville woman wins over $208,000 online jackpot

After playing the Kentucky Lottery’s Instant Play games online for about a year, a Louisville woman cashed in a $208,674.26 jackpot win. 

Chasity Hobbs was at work when she got on her phone to play online and chose to wager $2 on Cleopatra Clusters Jackpot

“It kept going and going and going and it said, you’ve won the jackpot,” Hobbs said. “I was amazed!”

Hobbs took a screenshot of her screen before it [jackpot amount] went away.   

“I was almost hyperventilating and almost passed out when it first happened but then afterwards, I immediately started putting on my thinking cap and was like okay, what exactly are we going to do,” Hobbs told lottery officials. 

Hobbs called Kentucky Lottery’s customer service and also received an email from the Kentucky Lottery confirming she had won. 

When Hobbs shared the news with her boyfriend, he told her she looked like something bad had just happened.  “I was just so nervous on the inside and couldn’t function,” she said.

After taxes, Hobbs received a check for $148,332.89.  Hobbs said the first thing she plans to do is take her family on a vacation and will put some towards retirement.  

Hobbs also shared with lottery officials that her son has been sick for the past year and winning the lottery is a blessing.
