Tommy Hinton of Mississippi won $225,000 playing a $10 100X The Cash Kentucky Lottery Scratch-off.

Hinton is a truck driver and said he comes through Kentucky often. While on break, he stopped off at the Pilot Travel Center on Free Henry Ford Road in Madisonville where he frequently stops.

“I bought three of the tickets,” Hinton said. “And I decided to scratch them while still at the store.”

“One of the winning numbers was three and I saw I had the number three. I scratched it and I saw the amount,” he said, revealing the $225,000 top prize.

“I was speechless. I kept thinking, ‘Oh no. No way. No way.’”

Hinton then scanned the Scratch-off on the ticket checker which confirmed his win.

“I had this look on my face like, ‘oh man.’”

“The clerk asked me if I was okay and if I needed an ambulance,” Hinton told lottery officials. “I said, ‘no’ and then showed her the amount on the machine. Her eyes popped out and were big as saucers.”

Hinton then left the store with his winning ticket and called his family to let them know the good news. “I called the wrong ones,” he joked. “They’ve already spent it.”

After taxes, Hinton walked away with a check for $162,000. With his winnings, he plans to pay off bills, complete some home renovations for himself and his family, and give to his church.

“I plan to act like I don’t have it,” he said. “I’m blessed.”

Pilot Travel Center will receive $2,250 for selling the winning ticket.
