A Pike County man, who wishes to remain anonymous, won $50,000 playing the Kentucky Lottery’s Millionaire Club Scratch-off.

The man stopped at Pond Creek Grocery in McAndrews to get a Red Bull and got to talking to some of the people there about the lottery.

“I don’t play all that often,” he said.  “But I saw other people playing and thought, ‘I’m going to try and see,’ and Boom!”

The man had wins in the bonus area and matched numbers in all 35 spots on the ticket to win the game’s $50,000 prize.

“At first I thought it was fake,” he said. “But then I got my bearings.  I knew I had won but I couldn’t tell how much.  We added it up a few times.  It’s awesome.”

The man walked away from lottery headquarters last week with a check for $36,000 after taxes. “It will help,” he said. “I’ll just pay off some stuff and it will be good for my family.”

Pond Creek Grocery will receive $500 for selling the winning ticket.
